Part D · Annual plan review
Part D plans change every year — formularies, premiums, and preferred pharmacies all shift. The plan that was cheapest for you last year often isn't this year, so it's worth a fresh look before December 7.
There are three ways to get it done. Walk through the guide below yourself, join our live training, or have Part D Scout research the plans for you. Pick whichever fits how you like to work.
Open Enrollment runs October 15 through December 7. Changes take effect January 1.
Have it ready
Your red, white, and blue Medicare card
Have it ready
Every prescription with its dosage and how often you take it
Have it ready
The pharmacy you actually use, plus a few big chains to compare against
Option 1
Medicare's own Plan Compare tool is free, neutral, and the most accurate place to see what your drugs will actually cost. The click-by-click guide below shows every screen. Set aside about 10–15 minutes and follow along in a second window. To go through it step by step, click “Get Started” in the bottom right corner of the guide.
Sort plans by lowest drug and premium cost — that's your estimated total for the year, not the monthly premium. A $0 premium plan can cost you more overall if your medications aren't well covered.
Option 2
If you get stuck at any point, Emmy from our team hosts a live Part D training where she walks through comparing and enrolling on Medicare.gov.
You can ask questions through the chat feature as she goes — no appointment needed, just show up.

Option 3
If you'd rather have someone research your options and make a recommendation, visit PartDScout.com — a company we partner with. Because they provide research rather than completing the enrollment, they can review your medications and pharmacy preferences across every available plan, not a limited set.
Just to note: Part D Scout does not enroll you. You would still need to do that yourself using the guide above — but you'll know exactly which plan to pick when you get there.
Their normal fee is $60 — MedicareSchool clients pay $30. We negotiated 50% off on your behalf.
